Sketches of gold eternity ring with blue sapphire stones

ON THIS PARTICULAR PIECE

Silver was not a compromise. It was the answer.

Most eternity bands are gold. We made one in silver, deliberately. Silver against the cornflower blue of a sapphire reads cooler, quieter, less performative than gold around the same stone. We wanted the band to recede and the colour to come forward. The metal is supporting work here, not lead.

Twelve sapphires were sourced as a parcel, matched for tone rather than weight. A channel setting was chosen over pavé because pavé scatters the light across many small reflections, and we wanted the colour to read as a single line of blue rather than a sparkle. The silver will darken with wear, particularly in the channels between the stones. We polished the band but left the channels untouched. The contrast will deepen over years. That is a feature.

I

The Stones

Twelve sapphires, channel-set. Cornflower blue. Sourced as a matched parcel.

II

The Metal

Sterling silver. Polished, then lightly oxidised in the channels.

III

The Setting

Channel, not pavé. The stones sit flush. Nothing snags.

IV

The Wear

Silver darkens. We expect this. So should you.
